Octopus GoPro Diver Tug-of-War
Octopuses are known to camouflage themselves when hunting and to avoid predators, but when it spotted a GoPro action camera recording, this creature had other plans. While it takes specialized skin cells that change the appearance of the skin by adjusting its color, opacity, or reflectivity, to camouflage itself, grabbing onto this gadget only took its tentacles.

One diver wanted to record the aquatic life in the water of Mandelieu-la-Napoule, France, but a tiny octopus wanted the camera for itself. After a few games of tug-of-war, the GoPro was successfully retrieved, and without harm to both parties. Should it have taken off, the octopus is capable of creating distracting patterns with waves of dark coloration across the body, a display known as the “passing cloud,” which would have made it nearly impossible for the diver to spot.
