Flying cars are nothing new, but this could be first one from a South African company. Called the Macrobat this near vertical takeoff and landing (NVTOL) aircraft has bird-like legs, tracked feet and tilting wings. Why the strange tracked feed? This solves the issue of landing on difficult terrain, while the legs are used to balance the aircraft.
This single-seat aircraft is claimed to have a 93-mile range and can hit a top speed of 112 mph while carrying a maximum of 330-pounds. It can either be remote-piloted, carrying a passenger or cargo as required, or manually. However, a larger version is planned and would be perfect as an air taxi.
