One car stole the show at Monterey Car Week, a 1995 Ferrari F50 in the ultra rare Giallo Modena color, which sold for $9.245 million, $4 million more than the previous record.
This F50 was a special order for Ralph Lauren, the fashion mogul whose car collection is museum quality. One of only 55 built to U.S. specs and one of only two in Giallo Modena. Lauren owned it for 8 years, from 1995 to 2003, then a Virginia couple owned it privately for over 20 years. With under 5,400 miles on the odometer, the car is a time capsule, meticulously maintained and recently serviced by Ferrari of Central Florida. New fuel bladder, tires and brake components ensure it’s as ready to drive as it was in its prime. Ferrari Classiche certification was renewed in December 2024, thus verifying every bolt and panel is original.

Only 349 were made, and at its heart, you’ll find a 4.7 liter naturally aspirated V12, derived from the 1992 F1 engine and refined through the 333 SP race car. Producing 513 horsepower and 347 lb ft of torque, this is a raw driving experience. Zero to 60 mph takes just 3.6 seconds, and the top speed stretches to 202 mph, numbers that still get the blood pumping today. The carbon fiber tub / body, Kevlar and Nomex honeycomb gives it a F1 feel, while the removable targa top adds versatility, stowed in a custom flight case.
The LCD dashboard and minimalist steering wheel keep you focused, leather seats and air conditioning are a nod to comfort. Massive Brembo brakes—14 inch rotors up front, 13.2 inches in the back—bring it to a stop with authority. Every detail, from the tool kit to the fitted luggage, showcases Ferrari’s attention to detail.
