Need a new camera module for machine vision? Meet the Raspberry Pi Global Shutter Camera, which is designed around Sony’s 1.6MP IMX296 sensor. It’s capable of capturing rapid motion without introducing rolling shutter artifacts, making it ideal for sports photography as well as machine vision applications, where even the slightest distortion can majorly degrade inference performance.
This new Raspberry Pi camera module combines their C/CS-mount metalwork from the original with Sony’s IMX296 sensor. Most importantly, it’s compatible with a variety of lenses, including the 6mm CS‑mount and 16mm C-mount CGL lenses offered through Raspberry Pi’s approved reseller partners. The camera includes a C to CS-mount adapter, a screwdriver, a 150mm ribbon cable, and a removable plastic back cover for extra protection. Available now directly from the foundation, priced at just $50 USD. More information here.
