Getting DOOM to run on a John Deere is one thing, using a real-life tractor to play Farming Simulator is another. The latter is exactly what Dylan decided to do when he met a farmer who granted him access to a Case IH 310 Magnum CVT tractor. However, a custom USB controller had to be built that mirrored the tractor’s control pad for it to function properly.
Aside from the custom USB controller, Dylan also needed to wrap the tractor’s steering wheel and throttles with sensors for analog input mapped to the game. It did take quite a while to make sure everything was properly mapped and working before live-streaming a marathon Farming Simulator PC session direct from the tractor itself. Since the tractor’s motor was not turned on, there is most certainly no steering, which makes turning the steering wheel all the more tedious.
