At first glance, the Renault Sound Truck appears normal, but step inside, and you’ll find a full recording studio. Based on the Renault Master van, this vehicle was created as part of the Give Me 5 CSR initiative designed to provide a springboard for young rap enthusiasts and make music production accessible to all.
What the team aimed for was to build a professional, yet mobile, recording studio that weighs less than 3.5 tonnes so it could be driven with a standard category B license. Plus, the wanted to use eco-responsible materials and align with the brand’s DNA. To achieve this, everything that went into the van was weighed, with materials being selected based on their rigidity and weight.

Everything that was going into the van was weighed and given a great deal of thought to ensure compliance with the weight constraint. We selected the materials based on their rigidity and weight and worked out how we could adapt them to our needs. We chose eco-friendly insulators to avoid using rock wool or glass wool. The rest is mainly composed of wood,” said Julien Ravary, Associate Acoustician and Studio Designer at Red House.
