Is the all-electric Rivian R1T faster than the beastly Ford F-150 Raptor R? Edmunds wanted to find out, so they pit the two trucks against each other in a drag racing and handling showdown.
First up is the 7,148 pound Rivian R1T dual-motor variant, which makes 600 horsepower and 829 lb-ft of torque. As for the 5,959 pound Ford F-150 Raptor R, it’s powered by a supercharged 5.2L V8 engine generating 700 horsepower and 640 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 10-speed SelectShift transmission. Both trucks are priced similarly with similar power numbers, but where things really differ is the weight, and as you’re about to see, does make a difference in both tests.
