Remember the 2006 film ‘Superman Returns’ starring Brandon Routh? If so, then you probably remember the scene where a bank robber shoots the superhero square in the eye at point-blank. Well, the Slow Mo Guys attempt to recreate this scene in ultra slow motion at 20,000 FPS.
Since they weren’t able to get Superman’s actual head, they had to settle for a ballistic head equipped with a solid steel eyeball. Once everything was set up, they fired a hollow point at the head and captured the action with a Vision Research Phantom high-speed camera. As with all of their stunts, we don’t recommend trying this experiment at home, even if you have the proper safety equipment.
