T1 Race Development’s Audi R8 may look normal at first glance, but under the hood, you’ll find a twin-turbocharged 5.2L V10 engine making 2,061 hp and 1,246 lb-ft of torque, mated to an automatic 6-speed gearbox.
Tony Palo of T1 Race Development started out tuning Honda vehicles, but eventually moved on to the Nissan R35 GT-Rs before this Audi R8 came into view. The latter’s modding journey was kickstarted after Motec released a plug-and-play ECU kit for the Audi R8 V10 and modifications ensued, including a pair of 80mm turbos, which gives it the potential for 2,500 hp.

As an ongoing development project, the R8 hasn’t hit its ultimate power number yet, although Palo’s plan is to push it to the limit and beyond. Of course, expanding the tuning scope of modern sports cars is a complex calibration exercise, and the T1 team records 850 channels of data during each drag pass, which feed back into development,” said Mike Spinelli, Head of Content at Motorsport Network.
