Tesla Model S Plaid vs McLaren 765LT Drag Racing
The Tesla Model S Plaid has been available since 2021, while the McLaren 765LT was first unveiled back in 2020. Can a 1,020 hp tri-motor EV take on a tuned supercar in a drag racing showdown? Drag Times wanted to find out, so they took both vehicles to the drag strip. First off, the McLaren 765LT weighs just 3,060 pounds, while the Model S Plaid clocks in at a hefty 4,766 pounds.

As for power, the 765LT’s twin-turbocharged 4.0L v8 has been boosted to 999 hp, up from the factory 755 hp, which means that it can accelerate from 0-60 mph far quicker than the factory 2.7 seconds. However, all of that power may still not be enough to beat the much heavier Tesla Model S Plaid, which has recorded a 1.99 second 0-60 mph time. Let’s just say the supercar is better suited for the track rather than a drag strip.
