Sure, this Ferrari 360 Modena limousine may be more rare, but the stunning 1987 Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione just might be the best looking classic model yet. One of just five known surviving examples built by Ferrari, this supercar was built specifically for Group B homologation of the 288 GTO, making it the fastest GT car built by the automaker in the 1980s, powered by a Tipo F114 CK twin-turbocharged 2.9L V8 engine generating 650 hp and 492 lb-ft of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
All of this power in a 2,072-pound machine means that it can hit a top speed of 229.99 mph. This particular example, chassis #79888, was originally sold to Belgian race driver and businessman Jean Blaton before eventually being passed to an anonymous European custodian in 2019 where it has been cared for since. The vehicle was recently transported to Michelotto in Padova for a variety of cosmetic and mechanical work, including a full service that totaled €133,000. If you’re interested, RM Sotheby’s will be auctioning it off during their October 19-21 event.

A fascinating case of the final Enzo Ferrari-directed GT race car and the first racing version in Ferrari’s legendary supercar series, the 288 GTO Evoluzione remains today as one of the rarest and most sought-after competition Ferraris ever built. Seldom seen in public and with many hidden away in long term collections, the opportunity to acquire one is even rarer than getting the chance to see one at a concours event or in a museum,” said RM Sotheby’s.
