Another week, another handheld PC, or at least that seems to be the trend in 2021. First, there was the GPD Win 3, and now, it’s the AYA NEO. Both are capable machines, but the latter takes things to a whole new level. It’s powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U 6-core processor, an AMD Radeon Vega 6 GPU capable of 1.1 Teraflops of performance, 16GB of DDR4-4266 LPDDR4X RAM, and a 500GB PCIe NVMe. Yes, just like a real PC, the AYA NEO does get quite hot when running graphics intensive games. However, the Founder edition does come equipped with a large cooling fan and a copper heat sink to keep things cooler than normal. How well does it perform? Well, in early tests, FFXV runs at around 30-fps, while Forza Horizon 4 averages a steady 60-fps. Some may be concerned about battery life, and although it won’t be good for hours, the unit can run between 80-90 minutes depending on screen brightness.
