Boston Dynamics’ Spot becomes the BMW SpOTTO robot dog at the automaker’s Plant Hams Hall in the UK. You won’t find it doing any tricks, as it has been programmed to scan the plant, support maintenance and ensure production processes run smoothly.
Thanks to its visual, thermal and acoustic sensors, SpOTTO is capable of performing numerous maintenance tasks, like monitoring the temperature of manufacturing equipment. In addition to SpOTTO, BMW Group Plant Hams Hall employs approximately 1,600 people, while other BMW Group plants are also currently testing the use of robotic dogs.
