The iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max may not look much different from its predecessor, the iPhone X, but these handsets represent important steps forward for Apple. All of the changes are subtle, like the A12 Bionic chip, improved cameras with Smart HDR, and larger 6.1-inch iPhone XR / 6.5-inch XS Max displays. Unfortunately, all of these models have kept the notch, but what could the 2019 models bring? The next iPhone will allegedly be the thinnest yet, thanks to a new OLED panel with touch sensitivity, which possibly means the return of Touch ID, along with a notch-less design. Analysts say that Apple is also working on its own modem to compete with Qualcomm, and to replace Intel modems entirely on their handsets, but we may have to wait until 2020 to see this happen. If Apple follows a similar release schedule for 2019, the new iPhone models would be announced on or around Sept. 10.
“Deutsche Securities analyst Jialin Lu said that Apple was planning a triple-lens camera array in at least one of the iPhones it will release in 2019. The cameras would offer advanced 3D sensing and use stereoscopic vision and dramatically improve the iPhone’s augmented-reality capabilities,” reports Tom’s Guide.
