Looking Glass Factory 27" Light Field Display 5K
Looking Glass Factory just showed off their new 27″ Light Field Display, which has a super sharp 5K picture and 3D visuals you can see without glasses, feeling real and wrap-around without needing headsets or trackers. It uses their special light field tech to show up to 100 different views of a 3D scene at once, so everyone watching gets a slightly different angle depending on where they stand, kind of like looking at real objects.

The screen has a wide viewing range (up to 60°), so a group can enjoy the 3D content together without any special glasses. You can add content using a phone app or web platform (called Looking Glass Blocks), and it can store thousands of holograms inside. Plugins simplify integration with existing 3D workflows, and AI tools can transform 2D photos into 3D in seconds.

Picture watching movies or playing games where characters and places jump out of the screen in real 3D, seen from different sides. This 27″ display could make a group movie night feel like a theater, great for families or hangouts without headsets. Gamers and creators can use it for cool 3D stuff, like holographic game figures or virtual board games. It works with Unity and Unreal Engine, so small-time developers might make their own special content for it.

The screen can also show 3D models of things like artifacts, fossils, or rebuilt historical items in museums, letting visitors look at them from different angles without touching. In science museums, they’re already using these displays for stuff like drug discovery, where scientists check out 3D molecular structures. How much? It’ll set you back a cool $10,000 USD, with shipments beginning in June.
