The new Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system was unveiled at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last week, and those who were fortunate enough to spend some time in the CLA-Class found that they could play Mario Kart. How? The automaker installed the open-source SuperTuxKart version of the game onto the MBUX system to show off playable in-car games customers will be able to experience in the very near future.

SuperTuxKart ported this classic Nintendo game onto Mac, Linux, Windows, Android, and now, MBUX platforms. How do you control the game? Well, the steering wheel, paddle shifters, and pedals are all mapped to the main controls, but as added bonuses, the car’s LED ambient lighting turned from red to green when the flag dropped. Plus, the vents blow air to simulate wind, and change speeds the faster you go, while the seat belts tighten when crashes occur.
