Unlike the 1,000-mile range Aptera Alpha, the MOKE Californian EV isn’t designed for long distance journeys. This electric vehicle marks the company’s first model in 40-years, and it’s highway legal to boot, powered by a 44 hp electric motor that is good for a top speed of 50 mph. On a full charge, you can expect a 80-mile range from its lithium-ion battery, perfect for getting around town.
Each MOKE Californian will be hand-crated in the UK and is essentially a modern Mini Moke that was last sold stateside in 1982. A full charge takes around 4-hours using a US Type 1 charger and has enough juice to take you from Malibu Beach to Santa Barbara along Route 101. Pricing has not yet been announced, but the UK version sells for around $32,950 USD.

This is a momentous time for MOKE International. It’s great to be able to offer the US market a genuine MOKE car for the first time in 40 years. The original Moke Californian represented an incredibly important chapter in the company’s rich history; we are proud that the MOKE lives on and can be enjoyed in the electric era,” said Isobel Dando, CEO MOKE International.
