This Need for Speed Underground 2 remake in Unreal Engine 4 shows what the 2004 game would look like if released today, complete with new textures and optimized graphics. It’s currently still a work in progress so not everything has been updated, but the Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R shown in the demo has turbo, new steering, collision sounds, and a drastically changed driving behavior.
Other improvements include audio / reverb / named zones, each island having distinct colorization, optimized radial motion blur, a drift score counter, and partially updated menus (not shown in the demo). If you’ve never played this game, the racing modes are very similar to Underground, although one racing mode was dropped (Knockout competitions), but a Lap Knockout option is available when racing Circuit in non-career races. Speaking of underground, this teen from Spain built a backyard man cave that can definitely be the perfect PC gaming spot during the warm summer months.
