NIO ES6 Electric SUV

It’s official, NIO has launched the ES6 midsize all-electric SUV in China. The vehicle is touted as an affordable “high-performance, long-range, [and] smart electric,” thanks to a dual-motor (a high-efficiency permanent magnet (PM) motor with 215 hp and an induction motor (IM) that produces 322 hp) setup generating a combined 536 hp and electric all-wheel drive in the range topping 84 kWh battery pack model. All of this is good for a 0-62 mph sprint time of 4.7-seconds, while topping out at 124 mph. The company claims the PM motor and IM motor setup saves costs and offers strong power. The SUV boasts bodywork made entirely of aerospace-grade aluminum with high-strengh carbon fiber used in some of the structural chassis parts. Inside, you’ll find a large portrait-style touchscreen powered by the NOMI in-car AI system and sports seats, with the Lounge Seat, Nappa leather, as well as an intelligent fragrance system being optional.

“The Nio ES6 starts at RMB358,000, the equivalent of $51,800, before subsidies. However, that’s the price of the model with the smaller battery and a dual-motor setup consisting of two 160kW motors (320 kW / 214 HP in total). The range-topping 400kW version starts from RMB398,000 (around $57,600) with the 70kWh battery and RMB448,000 ($64,850) with the 84kWh battery. Orders can be placed starting December 15, with Chinese deliveries beginning in June 2019,” according to Car Scoops.
