If Siri, Alexa and Google Assistant existed decades ago, Termi2 is probably how these voice assistants might have worked. This electric typewriter is a Texas Instruments Silent 700 (Model 745) that comes equipped with a Raspberry Pi Zero W used to answer your questions right after they are typed.
How does it respond to questions? It leverages the Wolfram Alpha API, yet still functions as an electric typewriter. In other words, when users type out a question, it prints the responses on thermal paper using a heated print head. Whether it be a math question or who the current president is, this typewriter has an answer. Texas Instruments manufactured the Silent 700 line of computer terminals in the 1970s and 1980s. Some models even came equipped with an integrated acoustic coupler and modem that could receive data at 30 characters per second.
