Xiaomi SU7 (Speed Ultra) is officially the company’s first electric vehicle and it was revealed today at a special tech launch event. Batteries will be supplied by Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. and BYD Co., while the vehicle itself is going to be assembled in Beijing at a BAIC Group facility.
This EV features Xiaomi’s own CTB (Cell-To-Body) technology, which integrates the battery pack directly into its body, thus vastly improving rigidity as well as reducing the height for a more spacious cabin. On a full charge, you can expect up to 497-miles (800-kilomters) of range. It will be offered with either a 73.6 kWh or 101 kWh battery pack, with power output ranging from between 299 hp and 374 hp, depending on the variant. Its autonomous driving mode makes use of built-in high resolution cameras, LiDAR, ultrasonic and radar sensors. There’s no word yet on pricing and availability.
