Some may be fooled by Pontiac Fiero-based replicas, while others instantly know that this is the world’s only Ferrari F40 Competizione finished in Nardo Gray, and it just sold for a whopping $2.75-million at auction. This pristine 1989 model year specimen (Chassis No. 80782) was first delivered to Ferrari dealer Kroymans Automotive B.V. in Holland before taking part on the Ferrari / Porsche Challenge series, driven by David Hart and Michel Oprey.
Its twin-turbocharged 2.9L V8 engine has been tuned to output between 700 hp and 1000 hp depending on the setup, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. During the 1990s, it was sold to the Zanasi Group in Maranello, Italy and took part in the Ferrari/Porsche Challenge, driven by David Hart and Mike Hezemans. In the end, this stunning Ferrari F40 Competizione was handed over to collector Michel Oprey.
