Back in 1978, this Hewlett Packard HP 250 computer would have cost you a hefty $24,500 ($118,289 in 2024). The system ran BASIC language as its operating system with access to HP’s IMAGE database management and featured an embedded keyboard, just like the HP 300.
It was promoted in Europe as an easy-to-use, space saving, low cost business system. To increase sales outside of Europe, HP emphasized the usability of the system for employees with only minimal training. Shortly after, the HP 250’s successor, the HP 260, was released, but it did not retain the table, embedded keyboard, and CRT. Eventually, HP entirely moved away from their all-in-one table top designs in favor of having the system in a remote secure location.
