The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) recently added a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye to its street fleet that was seized in a high-speed chase back in April 2021. Power comes from a tuned supercharged 6.8L V8 engine making 1080hp, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, which helped it reach speeds of up to 160 mph during the chase.
DPS then converted it into a Texas Highway Patrol vehicle for state troopers, complete with emergency lights and a police radio. Considering the 797 hp factory Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye can hit 60 mph in 3.2-seconds, we imagine this 1080 hp version being much faster. Aside from law enforcement use, the Texas DPS will also use it for community events throughout the year. For something more wacky, you’ll have to check out this Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat on buggy wheels.

The 1,080 HP Dodge Hellcat went from evading law enforcement in Harris Co. to now catching criminals wherever it roams in Texas. The fast & devilish-looking car was added to the DPS fleet of patrol vehicles after a judge awarded it to the Agency,” said Texas DPS.
