The all-electric BMW Dune Taxi prototype could be a preview of what’s to come for the automaker, or at least in terms of off-road performance vehicles. This gullwing door-equipped beast comes complete with a sleek roof scoop and matte black natural fiber-reinforced polymer body to ensure that it can handle even the toughest of terrains.
Not only does it have massive wheels and tires, but also 15.7-inches of wheel travel, making it perfect for both the street as well as the desert. Power comes from several electric motors that produce a combined 536 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque, enabling it to easily handle a 135° dune. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability currently. Who knows? We could see it racing next to the DeLorean Omega 2040 concept sooner than later in a new desert series.
